JD MOTORSPORTS HENRY 180 AT ROAD AMERICA RACE RECAP

JD MOTORSPORTS HENRY 180 AT ROAD AMERICA RACE RECAP

ELKHART LAKE, WI-

Saturday’s Henry 180 event from Road America was a hard-fought battle for JD Motorsports as the 4.1-mile historic road course challenged drivers Jeffrey Earnhardt, Landon Cassill, Spencer Pumpelly, and Colby Howard.

Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 4 Voyager Chevrolet, qualified deep in the field, rolling off from the 32nd starting position. Cassill, who had two previous starts at Road America, returned to Wisconsin for the first time since 2014. In Stage 1, Landon passed several cars on track, jumping to 28th. Fighting handling issues early on, the crew made adjustments to gain rear grip. The adjustments worked, moving the veteran up to 24th in Stage 2. Unfortunately for Cassill, however, a rear gear component failure hindered his running position. His No. 4 Chevrolet limped home to a 27th place finish.

Spencer Pumpelly, driver of the No. 6 Rice Tire Chevrolet, entered Road America looking to contend as the road course ace had several wins in sports car competition. Pumpelly qualified an impressive 18th place, and began driving through the field early on. Contact from behind sent his Camaro spinning off track, ultimately locking his transmission in gear. The No. 6 crew worked on the car feverishly behind the wall and were able to send Spencer back on track, but disaster struck on lap 28. Residual brake issues from the initial contact sent Pumpelly careening off into turn one, resulting in a scary crash. Spencer’s No. 6 Chevrolet was forced out of the race, scored with a 36th place finish.

Unfortunately, Jeffrey Earnhardt, driver of the No. 0 ForeverLawn Chevrolet, and Colby Howard, driver of the No. 15 Project Hope Foundation Chevrolet did not qualify for the race, sending those two drivers home early. They will return to NXS competition in the next event at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Next Saturday, the JDM brigade returns to Atlanta for the second time this season. In March, the team recorded an impressive 12th place finish, so hopefully the string of recent misfortunes will turn around. Fans can watch the Credit Karma Money 250 live on NBCSN at 1:00 PM ET on Saturday, July 10th. SPENCER PUMPELLY RETURNS TO THE NO. 6 JDM CHEVROLET AT ROAD AMERICA

SPENCER PUMPELLY RETURNS TO THE NO. 6 JDM CHEVROLET AT ROAD AMERICA

GAFFNEY, SC –

JD Motorsports with Gary Keller is proud to welcome road course specialist Spencer Pumpelly back to the seat of the No. 6 Chevrolet this weekend at Road America. This will mark Pumpelly’s second career NASCAR Xfinity Series start, but first at the historic Wisconsin road course.

Pumpelly made his NXS debut for the team earlier this season with the inaugural race at Circuit of the Americas. On that day, the veteran sports car driver qualified an impressive 16th and finished 19th in only his second ever stock car race.

“I’m really excited to be back in the No. 6 Chevy for this weekend’s race at Road America. I really enjoyed my time with the team at COTA where contact in the first stage hurt our performance. I’m hoping this weekend we can bring home a better finish and with the JD guys behind me I know I’m in capable hands.” said Spencer ahead of the announcement.

This weekend’s race at Road America will be one of the few events with practice and qualifying, so Spencer will have extra track time ahead of the Henry 180.

“I’ve won in several different series at Road America over the years, but taking a NASCAR Xfinity Series machine around the track it going to be insane! I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish this weekend.”

Ryan Vargas, primary driver of the No. 6 Chevrolet, will return to the seat in the series’ next event at Atlanta Motor Speedway on July 10th. Vargas is eager to continue his fight for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series season heads to Road America on Independence Day weekend for some exciting road course action. Fans can watch the Henry 180 live on NBC at 2:30 PM ET on Saturday, July 3rd. JD MOTORSPORTS POCONO GREEN 225 AT POCONO RACEWAY RACE RECAP

JD MOTORSPORTS POCONO GREEN 225 AT POCONO RACEWAY RACE RECAP

LONG POND, PA -

JD Motorsports drivers Jeffrey Earnhardt, Landon Cassill, Ryan Vargas, and Colby Howard took on the “Tricky Triangle” on Sunday as the NASCAR Xfinity Series season made its annual trip to Pocono Raceway. The stop marked the sixteenth event of the thirty-three race season.

Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 4 Voyager Chevrolet, started the 90-lap race from the 23rd position. Cassill finished 24th in Stage 1, and moved all the way up to 14th in Stage 2 with the help of pit strategy. As the race came to a close, Cassill crossed the line with a 21st place finish – a nice rebound from a crash in last weekend’s event at Nashville.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, driver of the No. 0 ForeverLawn Chevrolet, started deep in the field in 38th position. Earnhardt drove through the field to finish 27th in Stage 1 and picked up two additional spots to finish 25th in Stage 2. Strategy and adjustments pushed Jeffrey to a 22nd place finish, gaining one spot in the points standings in the process.

Colby Howard, driver of the No. 15 Save America Now PAC Chevrolet, made his first ever start at Pocono, starting from 37th position. Adapting quickly, Howard moved to 28th in Stage 1 and finished 27th in Stage 2. Despite contact with another car in the third stage, Colby pressed onward to finish 24th at the 2.5-mile track, moving up one position in the points standings.

Ryan Vargas, driver of the No. 6 Every Life is Worth Saving Chevrolet, made his second start at Pocono from the 21st starting position. Vargas fought handling issues in Stage 1 and dropped down to 29th, but unfortunately his day came to an early close on lap 25. Ryan was involved in a race-ending accident once one of the leaders got turned in front of the field, leaving no room to maneuver around the carnage. The rookie was scored with a disappointing 39th place finish.

Looking ahead, the NASCAR Xfinity Series season heads to Road America this Independence Day weekend for some more road course action. Fans can watch the Henry 180 live on NBC at 2:30 PM ET on Saturday, July 3rd. JD MOTORSPORTS TENNESSEE LOTTERY 250 AT NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY RACE RECAP

JD MOTORSPORTS TENNESSEE LOTTERY 250 AT NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY RACE RECAP

LEBANON, TN -

Saturday, June 19th, marked NASCAR’s return to Nashville Superspeedway for the first time since 2011. Drivers Landon Cassill, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Colby Howard, and Ryan Vargas entered the weekend with anticipation as they all looked to race at the newly renovated 1.33-mile concrete track.

Ryan Vargas, driver of the No. 6 MaintenX Chevrolet, had Nashville marked on his calendar as a potential spot to shine. Vargas was able to gain valuable track time with a rare practice session that set him up for a 28th place qualifying effort. From the start, the rookie driver faced a difficult challenge with an ill handling car. Ryan finished 34th in Stage 1, but the crew continued to work on his Camaro throughout Stage 2, netting him five spots to finish 29th. As the final stage rolled onwards, Vargas began working his way back through the field. The rookie crossed the line in 18th place, a respectable run that should help build momentum heading into Pocono.

Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 4 Voyager Chevrolet, opened the Nashville race weekend with high hopes after announcing his primary sponsor would be onboard his Camaro for the rest of the season. Cassill had made two starts at the track in his rookie season with a best finish of ninth, so the veteran was looking forward to a solid return. Landon qualified 25th and ran a quiet race throughout the first two stages, finishing 29th in Stage 1 and 26th in Stage 2. As the race neared its conclusion, Cassill had found himself inside the Top 15 with some great strategy calls, but with less than ten laps to go, his race ended due to contact from another vehicle. The battered No. 4 was scored with a 29th place finish.

Unfortunately, Colby Howard, driver of the No. 15 Project Hope Foundation Chevrolet, and Jeffrey Earnhardt, driver of the No. 0 ForeverLawn Chevrolet, did not qualify for the race on Saturday. The two drivers will return to the track this weekend.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series season heads to Pocono Raceway this weekend for the annual stop at “The Tricky Triangle”. Fans can watch the Pocono Green 225 Recycled by J.P. JD MOTORSPORTS ALSCO UNIFORMS 250 AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY RACE RECAP

JD MOTORSPORTS ALSCO UNIFORMS 250 AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY RACE RECAP

FORT WORTH, TX -

On Saturday, the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team competed in the Alsco Uniforms 250 race at Texas Motor Speedway. Drivers Landon Cassill, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Colby Howard, and Ryan Vargas fought through adversity under the grueling Texas sun for 167 laps around the 1.5-mile intermediate track.

Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 6 Solomon Plumbing Chevrolet, started mid pack in 22nd place and continued to build off recent momentum. Cassill finished Stage 1 right where he started in 22nd, and stayed consistent in Stage 2 with another 22nd place finish. As the race’s final stage started, Crew Chief Thomas Machek made some slight adjustments to help the handling on Landon’s Chevy, moving the veteran up the leaderboard. Despite nearly being taken out in a big crash on the front stretch on lap 90, Cassill kept the car clean and took home a 15th place finish, leading the way for the JDM brigade.

Ryan Vargas, driver of the No. 4 Swann Security/Best Buy Chevrolet, had a roller coaster of a race in just his second start at Texas. Vargas was initially slated to start the race from 15th position, but due to a fuel pump issue before the green, he had to start from the rear. The rookie gained nine spots to finish 30th in Stage 1, but a loose wheel on a pitstop in Stage 2 forced the No. 4 crew to have an unscheduled green flag pit stop, leaving Ryan stranded two laps down in 34th at the end of Stage 2. Crew Chief Ricky Viers took to some bold strategy calls in the final stage to assist in making up the two lost laps, giving Vargas a 24th place finish.

Colby Howard, driver of the No. 15 Project Hope Foundation Chevrolet, made his third start at TMS on Saturday. Starting from the 26th position, Howard went to work on making up spots. Handling issues dropped Colby to a 29th place finish in Stage 1, but Crew Chief Wayne Carroll went to work on making big adjustments throughout the remaining laps. In Stage 2, the South Carolina native was back up to 26th and charging. Unfortunately for Howard, contact with the wall cut his right rear tire down, resulting in a spin off turn two on lap 121. The JDM crew worked feverishly at repairing most of the damage, but unfortunately, they were out of contention by the end of the race, where Colby crossed the line in 28th position.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, driver of the No. 0 ForeverLawn Chevrolet, continued to deal with bad luck on the track this weekend. Earnhardt started in 33rd position but quickly moved up through the field to 26th by the end of Stage 1. However, a loose wheel, similar to that of Vargas’s, forced an unscheduled green flag pitstop, dropping Jeffrey to 33rd, two laps down at the conclusion of Stage 2. Good strategy calls atop the pit box earned one of his laps back, but Jeffrey was involved in a hard crash off turn 2 on lap 109, ending his day through no fault of his own. Earnhardt was given a 36th place finish and looks to turn the luck around and rebound next time out at Nashville.

The next stop on the NASCAR Xfinity Series tour is a return to Nashville Superspeedway for the first time in ten years this Saturday. Fans can watch the Tennessee Lottery 250 live on NBCSN at 3:30 PM ET.
