BEST BUY RETURNS TO NASCAR WITH RYAN VARGAS AND SWANN SECURITY IN CHARLOTTE

TWO-TIME 24 HOURS OF DAYTONA CHAMPION SPENCER PUMPELLY TO MAKE XFINITY DEBUT AT COTA WITH JD MOTORSPORTS

GAFFNEY, SC –

JD Motorsports with Gary Keller is proud to announce that veteran road course ace Spencer Pumpelly will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut driving the No. 6 Chevrolet at Circuit of the Americas.

Pumpelly is a twenty-year veteran of professional sportscar racing, and holds multiple victories in IMSA, World Challenge, and Continental Challenge. He is a two-time class winner in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 2016 Continental Sportscar Challenge ST champion. Also noteworthy, Spencer has competed in the 24 Hours of LeMans four times.

Despite only having one previous stock car start in the ARCA Menards Series, Pumpelly has plenty of track time at COTA, making it a perfect track for his series debut.

“I am very excited for this opportunity to drive for Johnny Davis and work with all the guys at JD Motorsports. I have been racing for 25 plus years and have had the opportunity to drive some really cool cars at places like LeMans and Daytona, but I've always said the most fun I've had in a car was racing stock cars on road courses. This will be my first Xfinity start so I know it will be a tough challenge but with the help of the guys on the team I'm sure we can get up to speed and be competitive.” remarked Pumpelly.

Saturday’s race at COTA will be the first time NASCAR has raced at the 3.4-mile road course. The track, initially built for Formula 1, is the newest facility on the schedule. With many unknowns, it is sure to be one of the most exciting races of the season.

“COTA is a track I know well and I have two IMSA victories there so hopefully my track knowledge can help a little. I know the guys in Gaffney are working hard getting things ready and I can't wait to get on track."

Spencer will drive the No. 6 Chevrolet primarily driven by Ryan Vargas. Vargas will return to the seat at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 29th. Sponsorship opportunities on the No. 6 program are still available for numerous races this season.

Regi Hendrix has spent time performing in a Jimi Hendrix tribute band, The Regi Hendrix Band, while writing, refining and recording his original material. He has performed with artists such as Greg Howe and Carl Roa, Craig Erickson and Don Mancusso.

Aside from being a multi-talented musician and songwriter, Regi has written "Deity" his book that deals with the very foundation of modern-day religion and is now working on its sequel. Colby Howard will sport a new Project Hope Foundation paint scheme for Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway, one that has strong family ties.

The No. 15 Chevrolet will honor Colby’s father, Rodney Howard, who drove a similarly styled late model in the early 1980’s at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Rodney took this paint scheme to eight wins in the 1982 season and finished second in the championship.

The Howard family is well known for tearing up their home track in Greenville, SC, with three generations of winning drivers. Last season, Colby honored his grandfather Buddy Howard, who was a four-time Greenville-Pickens track champion in the early 1980’s.

In addition to his late model career, Rodney Howard also competed in 33 NASCAR Busch (Now Xfinity) Series races earning one Top 5 and six Top 10 finishes. Racing is undeniably in the Howard’s blood, and Colby looks forward to honoring the family history at Darlington.

It’s been twenty-five years since this iconic paint scheme hit the track with the No. 3… But it’s time to light the flame and go for the gold! JD Motorsports with Gary Keller is proud to unveil Jeffrey Earnhardt’s ForeverLawn Throwback Chevrolet, a definite fan favorite!

Diehard NASCAR fans will remember the original car was run as a one-off with legendary NASCAR Hall of Famer, Dale Earnhardt Sr, during the 1996 NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The car was run as a promotion of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and captured many hearts with the patriotic color scheme.

The fourth-generation Earnhardt will take the reins of the iconic colors at Darlington Raceway for the annual “Throwback Weekend” on Saturday, May 8th.

Earnhardt’s loyal partner, ForeverLawn, will serve as his primary sponsor on the red, white, and blue Camaro. ForeverLawn, a manufacturer of premium synthetic turf products, has been associated with JDM since last season and will be on the No. 0 for the majority of the 2021 race season.
