JD Motorsports Honors Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving and the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Saturday’s ToyotaCare 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway will be important for the JD Motorsports team for a number of reasons.

The 250-lap, 187-mile race will be the season’s first on a short track, giving team drivers Bayley Curry and Ryan Vargas a different perspective after weeks of superspeedway and road course racing.

The meaningful nature of the weekend stretches far beyond racing for JD Motorsports and its two-car operation. During Saturday’s race, both team cars will carry the Jersey Mike’s restaurant logo and the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games logo.

The idea for the unusual display on the team’s Chevrolets came after JD Motorsports members ordered food from the local Jersey Mike’s as a way to support the restaurant’s Day of Giving which supports athletes attending the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. The games take place June 5 – 12 in Orlando, Florida. Davis wanted to add to that effort by putting the spotlight on Jersey Mike’s and The Special Olympics during the Richmond race.

Davis’ son, Kyle, was a Special Olympics South Carolina athlete for 1990 and competed in the running events.

“While it wasn’t originally my idea, I saw this as an opportunity to spread awareness to a cause that I hold close to my heart,” Davis said. “Kyle loved being a part of Special Olympics, winning medals and competing in sports. It’s difficult for me to put into words what seeing him have such a great time at the Special Olympics competitions meant to me. It’s one of the great organizations in the world of sports, and I’m so appreciative of Jersey Mike’s being involved in such a big way in the Special Olympics movement.”

The team’s drivers are fully on board with what promises to be a big weekend.

“I’m really excited to be representing both Jersey Mike’s and the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games this weekend at Richmond,” said Ryan Vargas, driver of the No. 6 Chevrolet. “It’s awesome to see the team step up and be able to bring attention to both organizations.”

Bayley Curry, driver of the No. 4 Chevrolet, agreed. “We’re all excited to run Richmond with these logos on the car,” he said. “Personally, I was excited to do my part and contribute to the cause earlier this week. Seeing the logos on the cars just makes it even better. I’m looking forward to a great run and bringing even more awareness to the Games.”

Bayley Currey’s No. 4 Prepared to Drop the Square Hammer with Grammy Award Winning Metal Band Ghost at Phoenix

GAFFNEY, SC – JD Motorsports proudly announces their new partnership with Grammy Award winning metal band Ghost.

The Loma Vista Recordings artists will be the primary sponsor for Bayley Currey’s No. 4 Ghost Chevrolet at the United Rentals 200 at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, March 12. The Swedish band recently completed their tour across the United States in support of their upcoming album, Impera.

This unique partnership marks the band’s first foray into American motorsports. “I’m a musician myself,” says JD Motorsports VP of Sales & Marketing Tony Priscaro, “so it’s rocked working with Ghost and Loma Vista Recordings on this car. We can’t wait to put the pedal to the metal.’”

The design of the No. 4 Ghost Chevrolet tells the story of how this unprecedented partnership came together. The paint scheme features the band’s logo, along with their partners Loma Vista Recordings, Global Merchandising Services, Revolver Magazine and Rick Sales Entertainment (RSE).

The partnership is managed by marketing and content creation agency A.E. Engine with promotional support provided by Out of the Groove, and its host Eric Estepp. The Out of the Groove logo will also be featured on the No. 4 Ghost Chevrolet. The paint scheme for the No. 4 Ghost Chevrolet premiered exclusively on Eric’s YouTube Channel.

“Me and Craig at A.E. Engine are both huge fans of Ghost,” says Eric Estepp. “Fans know I love the band and wear Ghost shirts on my show regularly. I’m constantly getting comments on my channel or people coming up to me at the races talking about how much they love the band, too. So we knew this would be really exciting for the fans.”

“Eric actually introduced me to Ghost,” says Craig Baroncelli, CEO of A.E. Engine. “We were texting back and forth about the new song “Call Me Little Sunshine” when it came out, and we realized the new album will be released one day prior to the race at Phoenix. At that point it was a no-brainer – we had to pursue this opportunity. I am just thankful Loma Vista Recordings took our call! They are the ones that brought this car to life.”

The 25-year-old driver Bayley Currey is in his first full-time year with JD Motorsports, but he’s no stranger to Phoenix Raceway, including having made a Cup Series start there in 2019, as well as in the Xfinity series in more recent years. Currey finished seventh in last March’s LS Track 250 Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway.

Ryan Vargas Returns To JD Motorsports For 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Season

Gaffney, SC – JD Motorsports With Gary Keller is proud to welcome back La Mirada, California native Ryan Vargas to the team for the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. This will be his second full time season with JD Motorsports. 

While the 2021 season had it’s ups and downs, Vargas showed strength throughout the season with solid finishes at multiple tracks. Out of his 41 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts to date, Vargas has a best career finish of 8th at Texas Motor Speedway (2020) and numerous Top 20 finishes. Each year has been an improvement over the last, and 2022 will be no different.

 “I’m very excited for this opportunity to race for JD Motorsports again in a Full Time capacity,” says Vargas. “Johnny and his entire team have believed in me since day one and have become almost an extended family at this point, and I’m ready to hit the track and put everything I have into this campaign. I spent many years as a fan of this organization; watching the red cars fight against the big dogs; and I hope to bring that same excitement to the track and show the NASCAR fan base what this team is all about”

The twenty-one year old and team looks to continue building upon a solid base of partners and is actively hunting additional sponsorship. “Nothing about this business is easy, however we have some amazing partners that I look forward to seeing return and we are working around the clock to bring new ones to the fold,” says Ryan. Currey, age 25, has a combined 116 starts across NASCAR’s top three series; with a career best finish of 7th in the Call Before you Dig 200 at Phoenix Raceway last March.

Redwood Grill and JD Motorsports Team Up For Championship Weekend

Redwood Grill is a family friendly restaurant and bar serving California comfort food in Redwood City, CA. While the grill serves as a place for neighbors to hang out in the San Francisco Bay Area, there is a shared connection to Texas. Redwood Grill executive chef Johnny Arreola is from San Antonio, investor David Taylor is from Belton and the driver of the #15, Bayley Currey is from Driftwood, Texas. In addition, David and Bayley both attended Texas State University in San Marcos.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway is set for Saturday, November 6 at 8:30pm ET. The 200-lap event will be broadcast live on NBCSN.

Bayley Currey and Fort Worth Screen Printing Team Up For Texas Race with JD Motorsports

Fort Worth Screen Printing and driver, Bayley Currey, have teamed up for the Andy's Frozen Custard 335 at Texas Motor Speedway with NASCAR Xfinity Series team JD Motorsports. Currey will pilot the No. 15 entry.

Currey, a Texas native, has had the Texas-based company as a partner for several years and is looking forward to returning to the Lone Star State with Forth Worth Screen Printing colors on board. 
 

"It's always nice to return home, especially to one of my favorite tracks on the circuit," Currey said. "I've always ran well here and I'm looking forward to a good run with Fort Worth Screen Printing next weekend."

The 24-year-old driver has six NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the 1.5-mile track with a best finish of 12th. 

The Andy's Frozen Custard 335 at Texas Motor Speedway is set for Saturday, October 16 at 3pm ET. The 200-lap event will be broadcast live on NBCSN.
